Dell Med School Construction Passes Halfway Mark

To start the academic year, UT Austin President Gregory L. Fenves and state Sen. Kirk Watson, D-Austin, toured the Dell Medical School construction site with Dr. Clay Johnston, the school’s dean.

Less than one year from opening, the Dell Medical School is the first medical school in nearly 50 years to be built from the ground up at a Tier 1 research university. Construction of the Dell Medical School is halfway complete, and the school is accepting applications for its inaugural class of 50 students.

During the tour, construction crews also put in its final resting place one of the last steel beams on the school’s Education & Administration Building. Earlier this week, community members and leaders left a lasting mark on the Dell Medical School by signing the steel beam, which will be visible after the building is completed.

With a vision for a vital, inclusive health ecosystem and a mission focused on revolutionizing the way people get and stay healthy, Dell Medical School asks us to #RethinkEverything.
