Sustainability Showdown

Event Status
Scheduled

The concept of Sustainability is broader than recycling bins, planting trees, and the color green; it spans many disciplines and consequently requires multiple approaches.

In the annual Sustainability Showdown, 8 professors from different undergraduate colleges will work in pairs to address the prompt: “How do your disciplines work together towards the Sustainable Development Goals?” These 17 goals are part of the UN General Assembly’s 2030 Agenda, tackling interdisciplinary global challenges such as environmental degradation, widespread poverty, and access to quality medical care.

A panel of students will judge the pairs on the depth, and creativity, of their answers to determine the winners of the 2019 Sustainability Showdown. Students will leave simultaneously laughing at their professors’ zany presentations and contemplating their own key role in building a more sustainable future.

This is a Campus Environmental Center event.
