The UT Tower will be drenched in burnt orange lighting Thursday, April 30 in recognition of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis team’s Big 12 Conference regular-season championships.

Per campus tradition, the UT Tower is bathed in burnt orange lighting from top-to-bottom when a University of Texas athletics team wins a conference championship.

The No. 2 Men’s Tennis team won the outright 2019 Big 12 regular-season title with a 5-2 victory at Oklahoma on April 14. It marked the fifth outright and eighth overall title in the Big 12 for the Longhorns, who finished a perfect 5-0 in conference play. Prior to this year’s success, the last time Texas won an outright title or finished undefeated in the conference was 2010.

The No. 8 Women’s Tennis team claimed the outright 2019 Big 12 regular-season championship with a 6-1 victory at West Virginia on April 14. The Longhorns posted a 9-0 mark in league play and earned back-to-back outright Big 12 regular-season titles for the first time since the 1999 and 2000 seasons.

The Texas men are the No. 2 overall seed in the 2019 NCAA Championship field. UT will host First and Second Round matches on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4 at the Texas Tennis Center.

The Texas women are the No. 9 overall seed in the 2019 NCAA Championship field. UT will host First and Second Round matches on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 at the Texas Tennis Center.
